What We Believe
WE BELIEVE in the inerrancy of Scripture; that the Bible (Old & New Testament) is the inspired, infallible Word of God. The Bible is the Christian’s authoritative rule of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:19-21).
WE BELIEVE that the God of the Bible is the one true God who is eternally existent in three separate persons: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:21,22).
WE BELIEVE that God is the personal, transcendent, and sovereign Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1,27).
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious death on the cross, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us (Matthew 1:23; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Acts 2:32,33a; Hebrews 1:3; 7:24,25).
WE BELIEVE that after Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on believers in Jerusalem, enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world–an obligation shared by all believers today (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 2:1-4,38-39).
WE BELIEVE that all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all of his/her sins are forgiven and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord (Romans 3:10-12,23; John 3:3,16-18; Romans 10:9,10; Ephesians 2:4,8,9; Titus 2:11; 3:5-7).
WE BELIEVE in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures, and that they are valid for use today and are to be exercised within the scriptural guidelines. We, as believers, are to desire the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without love, all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless (Romans 12:4-8; 1Corinthians 12:1-31; 13:1-13; 14:1-40; Ephesians 4:7-16).
WE BELIEVE in two ordinances: water baptism, and holy communion. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Water baptism does not save anyone. It is a public testimony that the one being baptized has died with Christ and he/she has also been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4). Holy communion, consisting of two elements–bread and the fruit of the vine–is a remembering (memorial) of Christ’s suffering and death, and a prophecy of His Second Coming (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). Self-examination and confession of wrong attitudes and actions will result in cleansing and a worthiness to partake (1 Corinthians 11:27-29).
WE BELIEVE that church government should be simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy, and that we depend on the Holy Spirit to call and lead, rather than depending on fleshly promotion. When issues are discussed among church leadership, prayer for wisdom and unanimity precede any decision or action. All things should be prompted by love for the Body and God’s will for His church (Acts 6:1-6; 13:1-3; 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9).
WE BELIEVE in the rapture of the Church and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ with His saints to rule on the earth. This will be visible, personal, and pre-millennial. This motivates us to diligent study of God’s Word, personal prayer, holy living, personal evangelism, heartfelt worship, committed service, regular fellowship, and participation in water baptism by immersion and holy communion (2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Romans 12:1,2; 1 Peter 1:14-16; Acts 8:26-35; John 4:24; Joshua 22:5; Hebrews 10:25).
WE BELIEVE worship of God should be spiritual; therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
WE BELIEVE worship of God should be inspirational; therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.
WE BELIEVE worship of God should be intelligent; therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis on the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us on how He should be worshipped.
WE BELIEVE worship of God should be fruitful; therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have been truly worshiping God. IN OUR SERVICES, we focus on a personal relationship with God through worship, prayer, and the teaching of the Word of God. We seek to teach the Word of God in such a way that its message can be applied to the believer’s life, leading that person to a greater maturity in Jesus Christ.
